Kate Chopin around the World: Global Perspectives offers a fresh, international lens on Chopin’s impact on readers around the world. Contributors from multiple continents situate Chopin’s fiction within national and regional locales, reflecting on the reading, researching, and teaching of her work through different cultural lenses. Essays, from both new and seasoned Chopin scholars, draw from a range of critical approaches to demonstrate the broad-reaching effects Chopin has had around the globe. At times, their essays are personal, as contributors reflect on the profound effect the author’s fiction had on their lives, research, and even students. Read together, the essays offer a rich conversation with a multiplicity of perspectives from different countries and cultures, demonstrating the incredible influence Chopin—a nineteenth-century American widow who sought to support her six children through her writing—has had on readers, scholars, and teachers for generations.

E’ uscita il 15 Febbraio 2025, per la casa editrice americana Lexington Books, la raccolta di saggi dedicati alla scrittrice Kate Chopin (1851-1904), considerata una delle antesignane del femminismo.
“Kate Chopin around the world. Global prospective” accoglie i contributi di autori e autrici provenienti da diverse parti del mondo, appartenenti soprattutto all’ambito accademico. In questo progetto, durato alcuni anni e dal respiro internazionale, si inserisce il saggio The Narrative Orchestra in Kate Chopin di Anna Maria Farabbi (Capitolo 11), tradotto dalla prof.ssa Alessandra Brivio (Associate Professor of History all’Erskine College in South Carolina). Farabbi continua il suo lavoro sulla scrittrice creolo-americana attraverso un’originalità di pensiero e di ricerca anche in ambito musicologico.
Anna Maria Farabbi ha iniziato i suoi studi su Kate Chopin con la sua tesi universitaria, arrivando poi alla traduzione di diversi racconti per Sellerio e pubblicando un saggio per la casa editrice Lietocolle. I racconti, con l’aggiunta di un inedito, insieme al saggio sono stati rieditati nell’opera “Kate Chopin, racconti con saggio e traduzione di anna maria farabbi” (Al3vie in coedizione con pièdimosca edizioni, 2022).
